Kritika Details Modified
Junkyard Wars will be held in two rounds testing all aspects of engineering i.e. theory, design and hands on expertise, with every coming round giving a closer feel to the final problem statement.
Event Description :
Maximum of 4 members per team. Participants from different colleges can form a team.
Elimination Round 1:
First elimination round will test the contestants for design, application and hands on skills like workshop techniques (machining, fitting etc). You need to provide answers to these questions about your design :
Design Specifications
1. Clearly demonstrate the special features of your design, features that, in your opinion, are specially clever and effective.
2. Point out the deployment of the junk materials clearly.
3. Explain about the use of the additional junk material (if used).
4. Explain where have you used machining, welding, etc and why?
Sample Abstract
1. Properly labeled drawing(showing junk materials) with
        a. Proper dimensioning
        b. Sites of joining
2. Design Specifications as mentioned above (in the given order).
Final Evaluation will be based on following points.
1. Functionality, feasibility
2. Assembly details(shown in sketch)
3. Innovation
4. Your solution should be realistic and must use stuff which can be easily found in junk.
Round 2:
The qualifying teams will be given the Problem Statement for Kritika only one night before the event and we will specify the entire format after shortlisting the teams.
Other details (such as junk availability, winning criteria etc.) will be provided along with the problem statement.

1) Can human effort be taken into account in Q1?
Ans) Required forces is obviously coming from human effort ,it may be form of pull or as in bicycle (crank input).
2) What is the material and weight of blocks in Q1?
Ans)Mass blocks are non magnetic in nature, you can assume it wood or rubber etc. You can choose any weight as you want (minimum 50 g),( like 50 gm, 52gm, 55 gm ,100 gm, 250gm, 450 gm etc). We just want to see the mechanism you devise.
3) What is the size and mass of the pesticide bomb in Q2?
Ans) You can take any type of pesticide bomb, example: tennis ball, clay ball, etc. Take that mass which is appropriate for your mechanism.
While taking assumptions, please keep in mind that your assumption should be realistic and genuine. You have the liberty to choose material and weight in each problem in Q1 mass blocks & Q2 pesticide bombs.
REMEMBER: Final problem will be totally different from ROUND 1 problems.
