It is believed the best solution is always the simplest one. Here’s an event that defies this quote. The major crowd puller event of literati, Contraption is back again. Contraption is all about making most complicated solution to a simple problem. The problem may be moving a toy car, to switch on a bulb or filling a glass of water.

A Contraption is a chain of different steps, in which one steps triggers the next one leading to completion of final task. This event requires simple class room ideas along with innovation that can make the solution as complicated and fascinating as possible.

Tiger Woods had suffered a wrist injury so he won’t be able to put the ball in the last hole of PGA kurukshetra championship. Tiger Woods could do it with your help. Make a contraption in which the final task is to make a TT ball traverse the following track. The track is divided into two parts the first part is straight path and the second part consists of an inclined plane with a hole at the top. The track will be provided to participants.
IMPORTANT POINTS:-
The last two steps in contraption should be placed over ground. The steps should be such that a ball at ground level, kept at the beginning of the track should be triggered to traverse the full track.

 

SCORING SYSTEM:-
In addition to points for the each step in contraption the participant can score additional points on the basis of completion of task i.e. making the ball to traverse the full track.
1) 50 points for completing the contraption up to first part of track. This part of task is compulsory failing to which result in disqualification of team.
2) 25 points as bonus for completing the contraption up to second part i.e. ball in the hole.
3) In case of parallel contraption 10 points as bonus but the two contraptions must be different (in term of energy conversion) and should have minimum 5 steps.
4) In case any intermediate step is not working, participant can trigger it with hand but double the score of that step would be deducted. Maximum number of human intervention is two. Failing of which results in the disqualification of the team.

 

CONTEST FORMAT:
1) Participants are required to set up contraptions to complete a task and must use different mode of energy conversion e.g. mechanical step triggering a step in which electrical energy is utilized.
2) The entries will be judged on the basis of number of steps and types of energy conversions used.
3) Participants can use: mechanical, electrical, chemical, sound, electromagnetic energy. Out of these five conversions three are compulsory.
