MACHINABILITY: Production to grass root level
Combining the finesse of a craftsman to the technical flair of an engineer, this event challenges you in elemental skills of production. Drenched in sweat and basking in the glory of your toil, you might see the throes of excruciating labour resulting in what is every manufacturer’s delight- a simple yet elegant machine.
A note of caution for the wise: You might begin by questioning the academic limits of theories of production science and end up as the next Ford or Toyoda. Guess it was never so rewarding to be ‘effective’ and ‘efficient’.
Rules and Regulations
1. Maximum 3 members per team. A team can consist of students from different colleges.
2. There is no requirement for pre-registration.
3. The event will be conducted in two rounds :
• First round will be a written elimination test
• Second round will consist of production of a given job on a lathe machine.
4. The Final Result will be based upon the surface finish of the job, dimensional accuracy, degree of completion within time frame, a viva-voice, and the score of the written elimination round.
