Aeromodelling Workshop &
Competition on Chuck Glider Making
There will be an interactive session which will introduce the art of glider making to all uninitiated and a
workshop will be conducted where things are started from the scratch. All aspects of glider making will be
dealt in great detail.
COMPETITION:
After being given sufficient time and material to let your imagination loose, the final competition begins.
Gliders made by the participants will be tested for their ENDURANCE (time of flight) and RANGE. Innovations
in the design of the glider won't go unnoticed. So come down, enjoy yourself and bag some cool prizes.
1.Maximum of 3 members per team. Students from different colleges can combine to form a team.
2.Students of all branches from all academic institutions are eligible to participate.
3.Participants can come up with their own Design (Blue print) before hand but they will have to fabricate it
on-the-spot with the material and tools provided.
4.Time will be given to test flight the Glider and make appropriate changes if needed.
5.The Glider will be chucked (hand launched only) by the participants from the launching zone.
6.Each team will be given two chances. Best of the two scores will be considered.
7.The ENDURANCE and RANGE will be noted down each time.
ENDURANCE is the time taken by the Glider to touch the Ground from the moment the Glider leaves the hand of the
participant.
RANGE is the DISPLACEMENT of the Glider from the point of launch till the point where the Glider touches the ground. The
distance moved by the glider on the ground by sliding will not be considered.
8.There will also be an INNOVATION round, where the judge will award points to the team. The judge might
ask some questions to the participant in this round regarding the design of their Glider.
9.The final result will be declared after considering scores in all above categories.
10.The decision made by the Judges will be final and binding.
11.Only one Glider per team will be allowed to take part in the contest and the same Glider is to be used in all
the rounds and evaluations.
12.Limited Number of teams will be allowed to participate. So, register your team at the earliest.
