They say it's a different world altogether out there in the industry. But it's true that the real life challenges posing the industries in all domains are much more daunting than the ones we do within the confines of our lab.
So does that mean your education in a waste. No, we never said that. After all it's the same principles that are applied in solving industry problems.
So, solve some real industry challenges and show them what a true technologists and enginner is!

The loads in the house are :
1. 1 tube light , 1 fan, 1CFL, night bulbs in each room
2. AC in each bedroom, living room, home theater
3. PC, washing m/c, TV, fridge, kitchen appliances
4. A flour mill, Blower (full house temperature controller).
5. A small 3 φ induction motor for pumping water
6. 8 Lawn lights
7. And all other necessary appliances needed (not mentioned above)
Supply available :
1. Two incoming line of single φ 230V supply
2. Solar energy.
Conditions :
1. 24 hours supply needed at home(excluding flour mill and blower)
2. Solar panel must be used for max. efficiency. Specification of solar panel:-
• Size-10m*5m
• Production-1kwh per m2 per day
3. Grounding should be proper
4. Security and protection should be taken care of.
5. System should be balanced
Hours of operation of different loads per day :
1. Tube (40W), fan(120W), CFL (15W) - 12 hours
2. AC (1.5 kW) - 5 hours
3. PC with speaker (1250W) - 10 hours
4. Refrigerator (frost-free, 16 cubic feet) (725W) - 24 hours
5. Home theater (2500W) - 5 hours
6. TV (200W) -10 hours
7. Toaster = 800-1400W - 3 hours
8. Toaster Oven = 1225W - 3 hours
9. VCR/DVD = 17-21 /20-25W - 3 hours
10. Vacuum cleaner = 1000-1440W - 3 hours
11. Water heater (40 gallon) = 4500-5500 W - 3 hours
12. Washing m/c (3 kW) - 2 hours
13. Lawn lights(40 W) - 4 hours.
14. 3φ induction motor(water pump)-10kW, 400V,60Hz - 6 hours
15. Flour mill - Single phase induction motor-230 V, 10 kW - 6 hours
16. Blower (DC motor)-230 V, 5 kW - 6 hours
To be calculated and submitted :
1. Blue print of wiring sequence(single line diagram) of house
2. Types of cable and protection used.
3. Total energy consumed per day
4. Tariff per day at the rate Rs. 4 per unit.
1. 3 members per team.
2. Line diagram must be on full size chart.
3. Time limit of presentation 10-12 min.
4. All abstracts to be submitted latest by 14th April via e-mail to vidhwaan.literati09@gmail.com.
5. Last date of submission of reports and blue print is 16th April, 2009.
6. 3 copies of report are also required for all the calculations, protection scheme and all other thing which were considered during problem solving.
