Excalibur
Outside NITK students can submit their abstracts alongwith SRS and Design by 22nd Jan 12 noon
Excalibur is a platform to bring out the developers hidden inside you, and to truly discover yourself as a potential software engineer. The software to be developed can be a .NET application (Windows or Web either), a software developed using C++, Java or any other language. There is no constraint on the platform or language to be used. But what is important is the idea. It can even be a small working project. The organizers are basically looking for innovative ideas.
General Rules:-
- Team should be of maximum three members
- Teams should give the following details of each team member
- Name
- Branch
- College name(if not of NIT Kurukshetra)
- Contact number
- Email id

Round 1: Idea Screening (Abstract Submission)
- Abstract should be not more than 350 words
- Abstract submission should have following Subject line in the mail:-
• Abstract(Project Name)-Team Name - It is a non-elimination round.
- The last date of abstract submission is 9th January 2010(Saturday).
Round 2 : Requirement and Design Phase(SRS and Design Submission)
- Elimination round.
- SRS and Design submission should have following Subject line in the mail:-
• Design(Project Name)-Team Name - A sample SRS can be downloaded from here.
- You can also download a SRS Template fromhere.
- Teams will be required to develop and shape their ideas, and submit well-documented design specifications using DFDs, UMLs or ER diagrams, etc with the SRS. Sample diagrams may be downloaded from the following links.

- The last date for SRS and Design Submission is 15th January 2010(Friday).
- The selected candidates will be informed by mail or by phone.
Round 3: Testing Phase(Demo Round)
- Elimination Round.
- Demonstration of working project will be conducted for those who are selected in SRS and Design Round.
- Flaws, errors and omissions will be checked thoroughly.
- Rigorous testing of the software will be conducted thereafter.
- The Demo round will be conducted on 22th January 2010 (Friday)
Round 4: Presentation (or Deployment Phase !)
- Final Round.
- A Presentation of 12+5 minutes will have to be given including the demonstration of the Software / Application engineered.
- For related ideas, search for “freelance” on Google. [Caution : This tip is only for the purpose of referencing. We are still looking for original ideas] Flaws, errors and omissions will be checked.
- Interested students from the 1st year requiring the use of a computer or any other development tools may contact the undersigned.
- Teams should also notify their progress on the project while submission of abstract i.e what percentage of their project is complete (if have been working) or not started yet.
