Matpro


MATPRO is a contest to test your acumen in the field of circuit designing. A circuit must be designed for a given problem using the simulation software PSIM. The competition consists of two rounds, the first being an elimination round. The elimination round requires contestants to submit a solution to the given problem within the stipulated time. The final round will be an on-the-spot event of the same nature.





Zircon Coal Pvt Ltd, a private coal company desires to set up a freight train link between its plants in Korba and Raipur. They have decided to lay electric traction lines, using single phase voltage of 25KV, between the plants for the same purpose. To avoid theft or misuse of the traction power lines, Zircon decided to use 60Hz frequency for the traction lines. But the power available to the company is only in the form of three phase voltage of magnitude 110KV, and 50 Hz frequency.
Your task is to design a suitable circuit for the necessary conversion, subject to the following rules.

1. Minimum number of components must be used.

2. The final waveform must contain the least amount of distortion.

3. The final output waveform should be measured against a resistive load of 1 ohm.

Selection will be based on the accuracy of the final waveform and the above constraints
Each selected entry will be awarded a score based on various aspects of the design.
Final winners will be decided based upon the performance in both the rounds.
Entries sent must contain the designed circuit along with the final output waveform.

Last date of submission of solution till 24th january.





1. Each team should contain maximum two members per team.

2. No student can be a part of more than one team.

3. Judges' decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.

4. Entries received after submission dates (January 24, 2010 11:59:59) will not be considered.

5. The originality of the solution will be put forward.
