Legend has it that the owner of the Excalibur wields a power far greater than his contemporaries. In Iris ’09 it shall stand proved that those who emerge victorious from the great battle, shall forge a step ahead of all mortals. Legions of software developers get churned by a rigorous elimination process, and the survivors fight it out for the crown of the best, most marketable, and most innovative software.

Excalibur is a platform to bring out the developers hidden inside you, and to truly discover yourself as a potential software engineer.


The software to be developed can be a .NET application (Windows or Web either), a software developed using C++, Java or any other language. There is no constraint on the platform or language to be used. But what is important is the idea. It can even be a small working project. The organisers are basically looking for innovative ideas.



Participation in this event can add valuable experience en route Literati 2010, and is highly recommended for budding engineers to prove their mettle.


Round 1: Idea Screening



1. Teams of upto 4 members to submit an abstract of not more than 300 words about your idea.

2. Non-Elimination Round.

3. Result will be announced on 16th August.


Round 2: Submission of SRS


1. Elimination Round.

2. Teams are to submit SRS (Software Requirement Specification) based on a standard format.A sample format of SRS is now available here.


Round 3: Design Phase


1. Elimination Round.

2. Teams qualifying through the second round will be required to develop and shape their ideas, and submit well-documented design specifications using DFDs, UMLs or ER diagrams. Sample diagrams are now available.

3. Selection will be based on the clarity of approach to the problem in hand.


Round 4: Demo


1. Non-Elimination Round.

2. Demonstration of working project will be conducted.

3. Flaws, errors and omissions will be checked thoroughly.

4. Rigorous testing of the software will be conducted thereafter.



Round 5: FINALS !!!


Note:


The outsider teams should submit their SRS by 11th of September 2009 by 9:00 pm.
For them the demo round will be on 14th of September 2009.
In the demo round they should come with their working softwares to qualify to the final round.
